DDA/Autism Waiver Services

DDA/Autism Waiver Services

The Maryland Autism Waiver Program provides home- and community-based services for children and youth (ages 1–21) with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The goal is to help children remain at home, succeed in school, and fully participate in their communities, while reducing the need for institutional care.

At Hope Health Systems (HHS), our Autism Waiver services are provided by trained professionals who partner closely with families, schools, and community supports. Each service is designed to meet individualized needs and to promote growth, independence, and family well-being.

Autism Waiver Services at HHS

Currently, HHS offers the following waiver services:
  • Therapeutic Integration (TI): Structured after-school and recreational programming to build social, communication, and coping skills.
  • Therapeutic Staff Support Services (TTSS): Individualized in-school or community-based support from trained staff to help children succeed in structured environments.
  • Intensive Therapeutic Integration: Enhanced therapeutic integration programming with additional individualized support for children with greater needs.
  • Respite Care: Short-term relief for families and caregivers, provided in the home or community, to support family stability and wellness.

Accessing Services

Families must first join the Autism Waiver Registry (waiting list) in order to apply. When a slot becomes available, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) will contact the family to begin the enrollment process.
